This was hand thrown on an electric wheel, glazed with Malcolm Davis shino, and fired in a gas kiln (fired for reduction). This is a light clay body which was fired at high temperatures (above approximately 1300 C or 2372 F).

The bottom of the bowl does have some glaze crawling. This happens sometimes with shino glazes when there isn't enough air flow to a particular spot. In this case, since the bowl was resting on the foot, minimal air was reaching the bottom. This also explains the color of the bottom versus the rest of the bowl. The grey areas seen on the rest of the bowl is known as carbon trapping.

(Variable lighting used to show how the bowl looks in different light)

Dimensions: ~10 inches in diameter and ~3.5 inches in height.

This item is dishwasher and food safe.
