This salt glazed vase was fired in a groundhog salt kiln at Luck's Ware in Seagrove, NC. It was fired at the front of the kiln which is the hottest part since it's right at the fire. Salt and borax were blown into the door of the kiln with a modified leaf blower towards the end of the 12 hour firing. The vase is made of high fire stoneware and glazed with a cobalt blue volcanic ash glaze that sometimes produces crystals.

The vase measures 8" tall and almost 4.5" across the rim.

This vase would look great with some daisies!

I will reduce your shipping costs as much as possible on multiple purchases!

Thanks!

I make all my glazes using recipes from other potters, online, books, and trial and error. I do not purchase any premixed glazes.
Absolutely! These jugs are made and fired just as they would have been in the 1800s. They were fired hot enough for the clay to vitrify, so they will hold liquid.
