One of my favorite paintings that I've done (so far) is called "Caging the Forest Bird" (http://www.etsy.com/listing/53290667/caging-the-forest-bird-art-print) and like this one, depicts a girl inside a bird. There's a lovely tension between the cute and the dark, and after many requests for more bird paintings, she finally has a companion.

For the painting of "As the Crow Flies", I used canvas instead of a wood block, so I got to bring in some of my favorite shades of green and blue for the abstract background. I can often see crows perched on the wire outside my studio window and I'm fascinated by their behavior. Their inky black feathers and incredible intelligence make them a fun subject to paint.
