This is a fantastic 1940s Singer Featherweight Sewing machine model 221-1. This is a super small portable sewing machine. It is in excellent condition! The paint is black and shiny and the gold detail is stunning. And, it comes in the original carrying case that is in great condition as well. Along with several extra attachments.

These machines are highly sought after sewing machines by collectors and also by quilters due to their small size and easy portability. Don't be put off by this little machines size! It is a great machine and is capable of sewing thick fabrics just like a regular sized machine would. The manual says it will take size 9 to 18 needles. These are simple machines and easy to use and make excellent straight stitches in forward or reverse. Attachments are available to make your zig zag stitches and to do many different fancy things.

This machine's serial number is AH 579075 and dates to 1948.

This has just been serviced by a sewing machine repair shop that has been in business for many years. They cleaned, oiled, installed a new belt, adjusted the tension, installed a brand new light bulb. This machine works perfectly! And, it's so smooth! Just press on the foot control and it starts right up and is nice a quiet and fast too!

The carrying case is in good antique condition. It has a few light scuffs and some wear on the corners but nothing major. This has done an excellent job of protecting this beautiful machine through the years. This does not have a tray on the inside like some of them. The latches, hinges, and handle are in great condition and operate just like it did back in 1948!

This comes with it's original 56 page instruction booklet. Which is quite extensive and very thorough.

I will also include a brand new zipper foot, an original Singer Ruffler attachment part no. 120598, an original Singer hemmer foot part no. 120855, and an original Singer adjustable tucker/hemmer foot part no. 35931, 10 bobbins so that you can have several different colors of thread ready to go for projects, a small bottle of Singer sewing machine oil, a tube of Singer lubricant, the original screw driver. I have not tested the additional attachments but they appear to be complete and look as though they should work.

These are so much better than those cheap machines you can buy now days and so much more classy looking and a special machine to pass down to future generations of happy sewers!

Sewing Machine Featherweight 221-1
Case
New Zipper Foot
Singer Ruffler
