'Ghoti' is pronounced as 'fish' in the English language. How so? If the “gh” sound in ‘enough’ is pronounced “F” and the “o” in ‘women’ makes the short “I” sound and the “ti” in ‘nation’ is pronounced “SH”, then the word “GHOTI” is pronounced just like “FISH”.

Now, about the hand plane....
I hand shape these bad boys one at a time from pieces of scrap wood. Upcycling Rulez D00d! All of my shapes are hand tested, by a panel of my closest testers and me, in variable surf conditions, and have proven to perform! This particular shape excels in steeper breaks, but can be used in about any condition imaginable. A slight concave in the back 2/3rds provide hold and the hard rails really let you dig into the wave. The perfect way to make your bodysurf session more fun and interesting, guaranteed! Grab some fins and swim out to the heavies or simply kick off from the bottom in shore break. Each of these hand planes is finished with 8-10 coats of demi-permanent boiled linseed oil, has an upcycled cotton strap and stainless steel hardware.

*update - I refinished this plane in Helmsman Spar Urethane to protect the beauty that is quarter-sawn Douglas Fir. Unbelievable the depth that it brought out. Truly a beautiful piece, and by far one of my proudest pieces to date. It will warm my heart to see this go to a good home.

This plane measures 14" x 7" x .75", and is made from quartersawn Douglas Fir. Serial #13
