This vintage Sterling silver ring is an attractive and simple wide, hammered band. It was purchased at an estate sale with a group of several other vintage silver jewelry pieces.

The band is approximately 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) wide and is slightly domed in cross-section (thicker around the middle and thinner around the edges), and is stamped “MEXICO” and “925” inside. The ring has a relatively heavy feel (weight: 0.29 oz. Troy), and close examination with a loupe shows its surface to be evenly covered with tiny dents and scratches, indicative of everyday wear for a period of time. The ring size is 7-1/2.

With no "eagle mark" (indicating post-1948) or registration number (indicating post-1980), the ring is tentatively dated to before 1948. This ring would make a nice starter piece for a collection of Mexican silver, or a nice addition to an existing collection.

The listing is for the ring only.
