In France, up until fairly recently, Fiscal Stamps had to be added to official bills and receipts. Here is a perfect example of such a document handwritten in 1958 by a wholesale butcher in Marseille, to a local butcher in a nearby village to where I live - Caylus - in the depths of rural South West France. What a different world it was during the 1950's - une autre epoch n'est pas?!

A great piece of vintage French paper ephemera for your collection, craft projects, scrap booking and collage projects. Also a very useful resource for digital artists.

As you see from the photo, the paper bill (invoice), is long and thin. Here are the measurements:

5.50 x 14.75 inches (140 mm x 376 mm)

The paper is a pale yellow color and has 3 fold lines. Very good condition.
