Owl and Dodo Paperweight Medallion - Vintage 60s Modern Desk Organizer

A handsome little silver piece.
A Wise Owl on one side-
and with a flip... The Dodo Bird.

What this is:
A token given to dentists by Protor and Gamble -in the late 60s...
It was a promotion for Crest Toothpaste.
On one side... the Owl... symbolizes Wisdom.
Cast after the classical Athenian coin.. the tetradrachm.
The Athens owl was used from 449-413 BC..
An Owl with a spray of Olive and a crescent.
A O E signifies Athens.
The Wise Owl brushes his teeth.. and gets regular checkups.

And on the other side...
The Dodo... symbolizing Stupidity.
Why???
Because the Dodo went extinct.
But what did the Dodo do???
Nothing really... the Dodo was perfectly fine until Humans came along..
And that's the reason the Dodo is no more.
I suppose if you don't brush your teeth...
they will go the way of the celebrated Dodo.

Well, there's certainly a lesson in that.

A well made and beautifully kept piece..
quite weighty.. and able to hold down quite a nice pile of papers and notes.
Or simply carry it with you.. as a constant remind to brush your teeth..
Or something.

Measures:
about 7.5cm in diameter...
or...2 3/4"

In perfect shape.
