Here is a fantastic, absolutely gorgeous wedding dress from about 1956. This belonged to my husband's aunt, who wore it when she was 16 for a formal event, and that is the only time it has been worn, except for the model in the photo wearing it. The model wearing it is a size 0, and the measurements for this gown are 24" waist, 15" from shoulder to waist, 16" from underarm to underarm, and 70" from shoulder to hem. The base layer of this gown is taffeta, with the skirt having a mid layer of very full netting, and the whole dress has a sheer nylon overlay. It has a 16" zipper opening in the back, and a small bustle as can be seen in the photo from the side and back views. In the front it has a pleated cumberbund, and there are appliqued three dimensional flowers that go from the back of the sleeves across the front. There was a safety pin used to make an alteration in the front of the bodice, and it has left a tiny blue spot and a very tiny rip, so it needs just one small repair. This dress has been well preserved, is still nice and white instead of yellowed, and is very crisp, clean, and a wonderful treasure.
