This striking brooch that portrays a flowering plant was made by one of the masters of Taxco silver jewelry, Los Castillo, sometime in the 1940's. It is marked Los Castillo Taxco Sterling Mexico and with the item number 149. This piece is in very good condition in spite of its age, with a working pin and clasp, and it has a wonderful patina.

This bold pin is not small - it is 3 1/4 inches long by 1 1/8 inches at its widest point, and it weighs 24 grams. This size is typical of pins from this workshop in this time period, and it features wonderful, detailed repousse work, which is another well-known feature of these pieces. This is both a collector's item and a beautiful thing that you wear and enjoy!

I have another of these pins from Los Castillo in my shop at this link -
