The shade is hand painted to reflect the aged metal of the base and the glow of the wood. The base is repurposed from our local metal recycler and contrasts well with the wood and shade.
How is it made? All wood is hand sanded, and hand finished. It has only a polish of citrus wax. Each piece is screwed, then all screw heads are filled in so they are virtually invisible. The shade is hand painted rice paper, which I painstakingly attach to the driftwood frame and line with mulberry paper for a better glow. People who live near the warm rivers of the southeastern U.S. will probably think it has a cypress feel to it . I'll let you decide. Either way, it is a stunning way to light an area. Maybe even place on a desk.17" wide from front to back x 25" tall x 12" deep.
Thanks for looking at my work. Hope you like it.
