These hats are difficult to make without a lot of laughter. I adore chicken hats and I wear one all the time in the winter, especially when I'm out in the barnyard tending to my chickens, sheep and goats. It makes me blend in with the scenery! I just love the quirky personality each chicken develops as it becomes a hat. Not everybody can get away with wearing a chicken hat, but if you have a good sense of humour, a fondness for the absurd, or just a love of chickens, this is the hat for you!

I crochet each hat from "scratch," using a pattern that mostly resides in my head. Each one is a bit different. This chicken is a combination of warm brown and rust tones paired with cream. I crochet with two yarns at the same time to achieve this effect. Unlike some of my other chicken hats, this one does NOT have legs or fluffy wings. If you want legs or fluffy wings attached, I can easily modify this hat to have either, or both. Please request any modifications before purchase so we can agree on a revised price for the added time and yarn. See the following previously sold listings for leg and wing styles!

This hat is entirely made from acrylic, cotton or nylon blend yarns to make the hat easier to wash. Her head is made of the same acrylic blended with a novelty yarn, and stuffed with poly-stuffing. She has small brown buttons for eyes.

Although she is made with washable yarns, I would recommend delicate cycle machine wash, or hand wash, in cold water. This will maintain her shape better and prevent damage. Do not put this hat in the dryer - just leave it to air dry.

This hat fits me just right - I measured my head around the circumference of where the hat goes and it's about 22.5 inches.

If you want a custom hat or need different sizing, let me know and I'll try to make whatever chicken you would like to sit upon your head!
