Unique looping design cowl.

Knit from the bottom up. Loops are worked connected to body, not applied. Versions given for two or three button holes. Stockinette provides natural curl at the top.

Last pic shows item worked on larger needles with only one button hole :)

Materials:

Chunky yarn: Aprox. 109 yds (100 m) for a two button 5” collar - 165 yds (150 m) for three button 7”collar
US 10.5 (6.5 mm) circular needle 24” (60 cm) or longer, plus optional US 10.5 (6.5 mm) straight needle for after the decrease ~ or size that gives gauge.
Cable Needle or DPN near in size to circular ~ optional, you can drop and pick up stitches without, they don't unravel easily
Tapestry Needle
2 or 3 buttons 1 ½ to 1 ¾ ” (3.75 – 4.5 cm)
1 or 2 small sew on snaps (optional)

Stitches/Abbreviations:

BO = bind off
CO = cast on
CN = cable needle
K = knit
P = purl
Rep(s) = repeat(s)
RS = right side
Slp = slip (purlwise)
st(s) = stitch(es)
St. st = Stockinette stitch
WS = wrong side
wyf = with yarn in front

Gauge:
Gauge not critical, but will affect size and yardage.
Sample gauge aprox
13.5 sts and 16 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) in stockinette st. ~ as knit (no blocking)

Measurements:
2 Button Sample - 20.5” (52 cm) long by 5” (12.75 cm)
3 Button Sample – 20.5” (52 cm) long by 7” (17.75 cm)
