This box is made of wood and the bottom is particle board. It has 43 compartments and the box is 14.5" by 11.5" by 1.75". The front of the box is marked The Deaton Co. 2432 Irving Park Rd. Chicago. The top of the box has a piece of paper with handwriting in pencil, that looks like it says Jolle Jury Box. The inside has a diagram "for the exact arrangement of letters, numerals and spaces in this case". The outside of the box is weathered and has some paint splotches. The inside diagram has edge wear and is coming loose in some places. The compartments have some staining on the bottom, but they are nice and sturdy. I'm not 100% sure what this was, maybe a typesetter box or to hold pieces for an embossing machine? If you have any ideas, convo me :) Fun piece!
