I fashioned this pin/brooch using the ancient techniques of chasing and repousse. The designs are drawn onto annealed metal, then outlined using hand made steel tools and hammer taps. The design is pushed from behind and then details chased into the front. It is a time consuming but incredibly rewarding process.

The brooch back is copper, hand tooled, 2 ½ inches in diameter. To make the sterling silver frog I first chased it into sterling sheet. Then I sawed the frog from the background and using high heat and a silver alloy fused the frog to the copper back.

This wonderful peeper (as we call them here in Michigan) looks like he is jumping right out of the water.

I applied a light patina and coated the piece with wax. On the reverse, there is a sterling silver pin made from 18 g wire.
