a vintage E Otto Schmidt biscuit tin. this very large and ornate collectible tin originally held biscuits, and was made in West Germany in 1984. a cranberry red background and gold embossed flourishes accent this beautiful container

written in the top right corner of the lid is "Der große Markt in Nürnberg", which means "The large market in Nuremberg". the picture on the lid shows the entire market; with close ups of various parts and people in the market shown on all four sides of the tin. the pictures are glorious

attached to the inside of the lid is an information sheet that reads "Der Nurnberger Hauptmarkt in Alter und Neuer Zeit", which translates to "The Nuremberg main market in ancient and modern times. the information listed on this sheet is entirely in German. the lid is held up by a chain attached on one side, which is original to the tin

the condition of this tin is very good to excellent, with just a few small spots of rust inside, a tiny dent on the bottom, and one tiny dent on one side, at the bottom. there are two 1/4" scratches on the artwork on the lid, one 1/4" scratch on the front side and one 1/16" scratch on the left side

large enough to house magazines, books, kitchen towels, sewing supplies, scrap booking or art supplies, the possibilities are endless
