The Moose Owl piece is sandblast etched onto clear cabinet glass. I can feature any animal or scene (sailboat, bear, moose, deer, wolf, coyote, big horn sheep, mountain goat, heron, egret, etc.) on the bottom, and other birds in the sky such as eagles, hawks, ducks, owls etc. or no birds at all. All art work is my design (copyrighted) and I do all the hands-on glass work. Each piece is hand-worked....no laser or automated anything. I can create a landscape scene with animal or animals across the scene encompassing multiple cabinets. A composite setting captured in the glass of your cabinets, or any other glass situation. I am an artist who creates imagery by sandblasting it onto glass of any kind or application. Small scale to large architectural applications.
The blast etch will not wash off. The glass is permanently altered. The dark areas you see in the image are really clear glass. To maximize the contrast (see more black) you can put black suede matte board behind the glass. You will then not be able to see through the glass (good way to hide things such as spices etc.). If you want to be able to see through the glass, such as glasses, china, curios etc. simply do not have a backer.
Each piece is signed and dated by artist James A. Veenstra. Approximate size of this piece (one door) is 12" W x 24" H. In general, prices run about $125 per square foot of image area on the glass. There may be additional charges for new art work, such as for animals/scenes that I have not yet done.
I do not do cabinet woodwork, but most cabinets can be ordered with an opening for glass, or possibly retrofitted for glass. These etched scenes can be adapted for anywhere you use glass, such as doors, windows, stove or fireplace glass, room dividers or openings, shower doors, window or wall hangings....whatever you can imagine! See the Buck Deer Cabinet Glass photos above, or on my Etsy shop to see what the glass would look like in a cabinet or framed setting. These custom etched panels are also available in free standing form with edge lit bases that light up and look incredible in low light settings. See "luminaries" in my shop for examples. Cabinet glass or edgelit glass is available via Made to Order for all wildlife species. Cost add ons may apply where new artwork needs to be developed. Many North American big game species are already done.
