This is London is one of a series of books written and illustrated by Miroslav Sasek to teach children about the great cities of the world. This copy is a 1966 reprinting - the book was first published in 1959. This W.H. Allen book was printed in Italy by Fabbri.

This 12 x 15 inch book is 60 pages long, and includes drawings and text detailing the sights and scenes of London -- it details a lot of historical buildings, but it's also a great snapshot of midcentury London. And accordingly, the illustrations are done in a classic midcentury modern style.

This is a fab bit of retro for anyone who loves the era!

The hardcover exterior shows rubbing and bumping at the tips and along the spine. The bottom 1/4 inch of the hardcover on the spine is missing. There is a faint dark mark across the red of the guard's suit and the back of the cover shows a bit of scuffing and soiling.

The interior is in very good to excellent condition with no inscriptions or other marks. The only flaw I could find was in the very back of the book -- the upper 1/2 inch of a final blank page is detached from the spine. I found no other rips or tears.
