Gary stepped off the plane in Belfast, Northern Ireland. On one arm was his carry-on shoulder bag. Under the other arm was his fishing rod case. Inside his carry-on bag was his treasured cargo of fly fishing gear including a wicker creel and his dad's old waders not too mention loads of hand-tied flies in every pattern imaginable. The young American was in England on business and he was able to arrange a couple of days off so he could fish for the famous Dollaghan brown trout found only in the biggest lake in Northern Ireland, known as Lough Neagh, as well as the rivers that feed into it.

During the flight over from London, he was consumed with thoughts of which fly pattern he would use first. Would it be the Back Pennell, the Gold Head Hares Ear or maybe the trusty Dunkeld. He was still in the "fishing zone", hardly even acknowledging the rental car clerk as he signed the paperwork and soon found himself stowing his gear in the back of a Mini Cooper. Gary traveled through the countryside until he reached his destination, the Ballinderry River. Then he drove upriver until he found a spot to park on a gentle slope leading to the river's edge. Before you could say "Ballinderry" he was slipping on his dad's old waders and minutes later smoothly casting his line, trying to drop his fly into a large eddy. Seconds later he felt the jerk on his line followed by a goodly sized Dollaghan leaping out of the water, fly in mouth. Gary was so busy battling that fish that he didn't notice that behind him, his rental Mini Cooper was slowly rolling into the river. Apparently in his haste, he had forgotten to put the car in gear and set the emergency break. He laid his net down and scooped up the trophy fish oblivious to the Cooper slowly floating down river behind him. It wasn't until two hours later did Gary notice the car was missing--about the same time a small, curious crowd was gathering around the vacant Mini that had just made landfall on the shores of Lough Neagh.

Here is a nice pair green 27" rubber waders made in the U.S.A. by LaCrosse boot manufacturer. We think they are from the 1970's or early 80's. They are a Men's size 10 and come up to the upper thigh and have cinch straps on the top. We are selling this pair as a decorating item although they look like they still have some life left in them.

These waders appear to be in good vintage condition but we did not test them in water so no guarantee that they are water tight. The exterior rubber is in pretty good shape although we did see some small cracks here and there but they don't go through the interior lining. The tread on the boots looks good. The inside looks pretty clean we found no foul odors or any sign mold.
