This handmade and hand painted votive statue is symbolically representative of the Goddess Isis and features her later period headdress of the horns and solar disc. The solar disc sitting in the horns in this votive statue is beautifully represented with a 40mm rough polished Amazonite disc. This then rests in a crescent shaped cradle which is elegantly supported by double "Isis Thrones" emanating from a standard rectangular base.

This icon represents the best known visual incarnation of the Isis' headdress, the horns of a cow cradling a solar disk.

The horns and base are hand-fashioned out of of premium polymer clay and painted with acrylic, Iron oxide, micaceous black and gold pigment paints.

This icon measures 5 inches high by 5 1/4 inches wide and it is 1 1/2 inches in depth

The Amozonite in this piece is among the lightest and palest in blue I have ever worked with. It is striking and more layered in color than the images can show. The first and fifth images show the truest blue representation of the color.

**We can customize this piece with a number of stone discs and sizes. Inquire about current availability of stones and colors and the time to turn around a custom order!

Originally the headdress was that of the goddess Hathor, but later depictions of Isis linked the two together in myth and imagery. Images of this headdress on Isis are often accompanied by a vulture whereas Hathor's version sometimes includes a cobra. The horns, though associated with a cow are thought to have been representative of the visible ring around a solar eclipse and thus another symbol of her as a celestial goddess. Isis is also often depicted wearing red.

Isis is the Goddess of motherhood, magic and fertility. She was the console of slaves, sinners, artisans, the downtrodden, as well as listening to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats and rulers.
