The Russian abacus, as a simple, cheap and reliable device, was in use in all shops and markets throughout the former Soviet Union, and the usage of it was taught in most schools until the 1990s. The beads are moved from right to left alongside slightly bowed metal bars. Ten beads on each row divided by two red beads to indicate the five and six. From top to bottom: 10,000, 1,000, 100, 10 and 1. Then a row with four white beads representing four quarters of a rouble, followed by three decimal rows.
Funy as office decor.
Please carefully look at the photos. In some places on the beads erased the black paint from long-term use and has minor damage. Have vintage condition.
Made in USSR circa 1980s.
Dimension of this abacus are 39.5 x 26 cm (~ 15.6 x 10.2 inch).
