A rare Thimble Case made from a real walnut that has been trimmed in Sterling Silver. I've seen one other one made in the same way. This case was made in Florence and has several marks on the Silver. The inside sterling on one side of the case has 925 in an oval, a hallmark that I can't quite decifer. Biscioni is on both sides of the walnut. Fatto a mano, and Florence is on the other side. It's 1 3/4" long and 1 1/4" wide. Dark areas on the silver in the photos are reflections. It snaps together well and easily holds a thimble. May have been lined at some time.
