Vintage Asian Blue and White Teacups, Hand Painted, Set of Three

Two of the teacups are from Japan, one hand painted with a branch of plum blossoms, the other stamped with a blue stylized floral border pattern.

The third cup was made in China, and is more ornate and colorful with a decorated interior and elaborate floral exterior with gold trim. This cup also shows beautiful use of the rice grain pattern embossed into the porcelain surface of the cup, creating translucent areas.

The blue and white cup from Japan is probably the oldest cup, pre -1960. It's made from heavier porcelain, and has more evidence of wear, including two or three very small edge chips. Judging from it's heftiness and condition, it might have been used in a restaurant or tea house. Two small spots are visible on the interior of the cup.

Sold together as a set, all the tea cups less then 2.75" high.
