Shades of blue and monochromatic golds are magnificent in this piece of embroidery. It may have come from a robe, common or ceremonial. It looks to be a panel sewn together and framed in silken trim.

Butterflies are the theme, and within the ornate stitchery you'll find lavender wings and green ruffled wings.

Influenced by customs and cultures the style maybe referred to as Shu, originated among the folk people in the west of the Sichuan Province. There are 122 approaches in 12 categories for this embroidery.

As pictured, there are flaws along the border it looks to have been cut from a larger piece. Given its age there are very little separation strands. The trimming has a few frayed spots close to the four cornered coins. I've had fantastic input regarding the piece and * others have been able to fill in the blanks where I didn't know the origin or time frame.

The beautiful embroidery dates to the Qing Dynasty 1644–1911.* The coins date to the reign of Emperor Qianlong. He reigned 1661-1722.

Hoping an admirer can take the steps to further preserve and breathe new life into such a lovely piece. It is sold "as is" with its flaws having been stated.

It measures 17 x 10
