This antique early 1900's victorian poison ring is one of the oldest I have ever had. It is marked 800 silver on the back and it has a compartment under the black onyx stone that is about 1/2" long. A good sized compartment for quite a bit of venom should one have thought to "off" their spouse. Not that I am saying that was a good idea, but in times past some women were pretty creative. Cleo started it and it somehow never stopped. SInce this won't be used for THAT anymore, I would say it would make a great compartment to carry a pill or a little bit of a sachet dipped in your favorite scent. The setting on the ring is quite ornate with many tiny silver petals that drop over the bezel. The setting measures a little over 1". The base of the ring has tiny beadwork that goes around both sides of the slender band. This is a size 7 1/2 and is well made and in very good condition.
