They’re vintage! They’re uniquely hand-crafted. They’re WARM! They’re comfortable! And they are worth every penny of your hard-earned cash!!

This amazing pair of authentic mukluks from Alberta, Canada, was custom ordered and purchased on a hunting expedition in the 1970’s and worn only once for an afternoon of Ohio hillside sledding. (The craftsman drew around my husband's foot and then made them to fit him specifically, so they are literally one of a kind). They are hand-crafted in a durable but supple heavy natural suede leather with a traditional moccasin style bottom, a soft gray rabbit fur shin area, and a suede top with a 2” decorative woven band stitched over the suede just above the fur. The interior lining is a very durable off white fabric similar to but lighter weight than canvas. The entire bottom of the shoe (all of the suede leather below the fur) is lined with warm and inviting sheep’s wool.

Navy blue and white tiny Indian beads are stitched in a geometric design on the top of the shoe area. The decorative woven band is worked in a striking geometric pattern in multiple shades of red, green, blue, pink, orange and yellow.

Brown woven shoe laces are threaded through the top between the lining and the exterior, emerging through two holes in the leather at the sides toward the front. Rabbit fur balls are attached to the ends of the laces and can be tied in bows or left hanging down.

These mukluks are quite warm and cozy and very comfortable, but they are not water-proof. They are intended to be worn in temperatures cold enough that ice and snow will not melt and eventually saturate the leather.

After their maiden voyage in the Midwest, they have been packed away for the day when some fortunate vintage lover with an appreciation for fine craftsmanship and a desire for warm feet could claim them for his/her own. Today is the day! Treat yourself to happy feet for many moons!

These are Men’s US size 9.

DIMENSIONS: 10 – 10 ¼” exterior tip to tip
4 ½” across ball of foot on outside of shoe
7” rabbit fur height
3 ½” from fur to top of boot
2” decorative band & 1 ½” suede above fur
12” (or more) height from floor to top of boot
10” length of each shoe lace
2 ½” rabbit fur balls

NOTE: I have had an inquiry as to what size these would be in a women's shoe. According to a conversion chart, a US Men's size 9 is a Women's size 11.

Another inquiry asking if these were mine and what size shoe I wear prompted me to put them on my size 7.5 feet to see how much too big they are on me. I wear a size 7 on my right foot but a 7.5 on my left foot, and my feet are small boned and not wide. There was more than an inch (about 1 1/4" beyond my big toe, and plenty of space all around my toes in the toe box, so my best guess is that if you wear a women's size 9 to 11, you can wear these. I put on medium weight wool socks and was able to wear them without my feet sliding around inside, so if your foot is at least a size 8 (especially if your feet are wide or well-fleshed) you will probably be able to wear them with heavy socks.

Keep in mind that the sizing is not exact. Because they are leather, they will stretch some if you need more room, and because they are for winter wear you can use heavy wool socks to take up extra room if your feet are smaller. Please check the measurements I have given and measure your own shoes (I suggest you measure running shoes or snow boots, not dress shoes) to see if it looks like a good fit.
