Champagne is a true jewel of the old sea arts. A delicate, gem-like, hand blown collectible so lovely, you may wonder how it survived the many decades of challenge at sea. The medium to heavy weight glass will sit nicely in the palm of the hand glowing with the invitation to transcend the cares of the day.

Measuring 3-1/8" diameter or 9-1/2" in circumference, this lovely piece exudes all the confidence of a top of the line champagne! The glass is so loaded with champagne bubbling, it feels as if the float may dissolve any moment - into a delicious sage green bubbly elixir! These are the type of bubbles throughout the body of the glass that can mainly be seen when the float is held or positioned near a source of bright light. The photos were taken on a typically overcast, cloudy Pacific NW day, so these are not highly visible with exception of somewhat in photo #4.

As well there are larger bubbles of all manner and shape in the high quality vintage glass, including tear drop shapes, 'windows' into space, and 'comet' shaped bubbles. Subtle swirling can be seen among the galaxy of bubbling, as a light 'current' moving through the stars.

Observe especially in photo #1 what I like to call 'geometric drag lines'. On first site these may appear as light cracks in the glass. Not so. The drag lines occur on the surface glass and form interesting geometric shapes and lines when a sharp object of some sort - often a tiny rock or shard of solid glass - gets dragged across the surface while the float is being blown. Champagne shows an interesting little continent of these lines on one side of its lower hemisphere. I always view such anomalies as an opportunity to make a wish!

The seal 'button' on Champagne is equally lovely. It is extraordinarily large, spanning half what would be the bottom of a medium sized orange. The glass is mostly even throughout, appearing beautifully fragile and delicate, yet how well it has survived! The seal exhibits fine craftsmanship and has been well placed. With my eagle eye or a magnifying lens one can sense there may have been an attempt to sign or mark the seal, but the stamp may have slipped and whatever it was morphed into the warm glass. The surround edges are refined and smooth with exception of some very light, shallow grazing here and there to the old, beautifully weathered edges.
