Iconic jade green Vagabond insulated metal beverage cooler. Thermos for road trips, camping, picnics or repurposing. Large size, perfect mid century styling, great look.

This cooler is frickin' fabulous. It's 8 or 9 inches in diameter, holds probably a gallon and a half of your favorite hot or cold beverage, and is that perfect sort of silvery grey, greeny blue that everything metal in the fifties seems to have been. Excellent decal on the side reads "Vagabond Hemp & Co., Inc. Macomb, Ill." with a nice pop of yellow and red.

The outside of this beauty has plenty of evidence of its age, from a bumped lid and split rubber covering the handle. There's some light rust and knocks and bumps, and some dust around the handle hinges. BUT... the original rubber gasket insert is in excellent shape (still supple) and the lid screws on firmly, and the inside looks great! It has no food or mildew smell - it just smells of the rubber from the stopper. A good bleach and wash and this puppy might join you at sports events, or into the woods.

Alternately, you could fill it with stones and use it as a door stop. You could plant daisies in it, or a bonsai tree. You could use it as a book end on a big wooden wall shelf, or fill it with a collection of anything you like and set it next to a wooden chest or your bed. It's a great container and, really, a true gem.

You might like to pair this with a plaid picnic blanket:
