My first brooch (and only one to this day)!

It's made of sterling silver, recycled cowhide and Mokumé Gané (sterling silver and copper). Mokumé Gané ("wood eye") is a traditional Japanese technique in which many layers of different metals are fused together to form a billet. The billet is then transformed using various methods and finally flattened, revealing some of the lower layers. It's really a labour of love!

The top of the brooch is riveted to the back with 5 sterling silver decorative rivets. The top and the sides are polished. The back is brushed, and so is the Mokumé. With time, it will develop a nice patina, that will turn the bright copper to a darker shade of brown.

Looks great on knits and scarves. Can be used as a shawl pin.

Measures 2.5cm (1inch).

One of a kind item, never to be duplicated!
