Thank you for visiting my shop.
This little natural edge bowl was fun to turn on my lathe. The wood was part of a tree that blew down in a wind storm. I used half of a Honey Locust log and turned it towards the bark from the center of the log. You end up with the original bark around the edge (if you’re lucky and don’t carve it off) that gives it a very appealing, rugged look. The Honey Locust has a vibrant, interesting grain and is a very sturdy wood. The combination of browns, golds and yellows is quite striking and warm at the same time. The piece is large enough to hold several décor items such as candy kisses for your Valentine or just to view as an art addition to your home.
The bowl measures approximately 6 inches across and approximately 4.5 inches tall. It has been finished with a cellular seal and several coats of lacquer friction polish which not only brings out the beautiful grain but adds to its durability.
