Understatedly elegant enamel bowl designed by the gifted Norwegian born Grete Prytz Kittelsen (1917-2010) and manufactured by Cathrineholm. As a goldsmith, enamel artist and designer, she brought a unique sensibility to her designs, influencing emerging modern taste as part of the Scandinavian design movement. Her housewares designs, which started to be produced in Norway in the late 1950's, continue to have a refreshing appeal today with their clean lines and brilliant functionality.
This enamel bowl features Kittelsen's stylized leaf pattern in mustard over a white ground. It is in very good used condition with usual signs of wear on inner bottom of the bowl. Edge is smooth. Measures 5 1/4" high, 7 7/8" in diameter, 2 1/8" diameter at base.

Note: Grete Prytz Kittelsen is the subject of the forthcoming book "Grete Prytz Kittelsen: The Art of Enamel Design" being published by W W Norton in May 2012, isbn 978-0393733310.
