Driftwood, tea bags, and divider cards sparked the idea of a book. I found the alphabet of a German, tenth century illuminated bible and drew them on tea bags. For an alphabet book, I brought together another passion, rescuing wild life. Except for the letters U, X, and Z, all of the birds listed are the birds my husband and I have rescued on the Oregon coast.

The repurposed 9"X4" card dividers were painted with acrylic wheat paste and a window cut-out to show-off the letter. On the front of each page, the name of a bird was printed. The picture of the bird was printed on the back of the page. A wire hinge was added to each page and tied with hemp twine to the wooden spine.

The stand was created from the driftwood found during walks on the beach. The book is removable by removing the wooden 'spine' from the stand.
