This listing is for a quarter yard of scarlet red and white shibori fabric. This fabric is a silk hemp blend that I bound and hand dyed in my studio in Virginia.

* 29" by 18" silk shibori

* silk hemp fabric blend made from 60% hemp and 40% silk

* distinctive scarlet red "bamboo" stalks pattern on white background

* preshrunk and colorfast

* silk hemp wonderful for hand needling, applique, embroidery

* satisfaction guaranteed; check out my return policy

Looking for an eco-friendly fabric with terrific visual and tactile properties? This silk hemp fabric is 60% hemp; 40% silk. Hemp is a bast fiber that can be grown without herbicides or pesticides and is minimally processed. This fabric has not been treated with chlorine bleach, but whitened with safer hydrogen peroxide. No formaldehyde or optic whiteners have been used in its production.

To create this fabric, I use traditional shibori techniques that involve wrapping, binding and dyeing the fabric to create areas of color and areas of resist. Each piece has unique and distinctive patterning. This piece is stunning with its bamboo-like stalks that grow across the width of the fabric.
