Golden Compass Necklace- Antique Wax Seal Necklace with Nautical Theme in Copper

"Not all those who wander are lost"

Lyra could have probably used this pure copper compass rose during her travels in Phillip Pullman's books.
For those who are travelers, those that look for direction, or those that are lost - the compass rose is symbolic of direction - be that actual or metaphorical.

ABOUT THE PENDANT:
This pendant is made with a wax seal of a compass rose of unknown origins, stamped into your choice of pure copper, bronze or silver.

CHOOSE YOUR STYLE:
The seal is rather large with a braided rope design surrounding the compass rose - you can choose to have this element included or not via the drop down menu. Go for a more polished look with the rope frame, or a more rustic look without it.

Each pendant is stamped, sanded, polished and oxidized for an antique look. Because they are hand-stamped individually and made to order, these pendants are truly unique, and no two pendants are the same (unlike silver pendants cast from a mold).

DIMENSIONS:
The pendant is approximately 1.5″ across.

This listing is for the PENDANT ONLY.

CHAIN LENGTH: If you choose to purchase the pendant on a chain, the chains are sterling silver, brass or pure copper, 16″ long or 18" long.
.

HISTORY:
The compass rose is an old design element found on compasses, maps and even monuments (e.g. the Tower of the Winds in Athens, the pavement in Dougga, Tunis, during Roman times) to show cardinal directions and frequently intermediate direction. The "rose" term arises from the fairly ornate figures used with early compasses. Older sources sometimes use the term "compass star", or stella maris ("star of the sea"), to refer to the compass rose.
Early forms of the compass rose were known as wind roses, since no differentiation was made between a directional point and the wind which emanated from that direction. (Today, the term "wind rose" is often reserved for the object used by meteorologists to depict wind frequencies from different directions at a location.
