here's a cute little Texas Instruments Speak and Read with some basic mods to it. They are briefly covered in this video

here's the list in order of appearance on the video...
1: 1/4 guitar style output, plug straight into an amp or use the onboard speaker
2: Banana Inputs for pitch control. raise the pitch up and down or modulate it with your touch
3: Distortion switch for making disturbing sounds
4: loop switch to hold formants and noise loops indefinitely
5: various glitch switches that spew random sound effects at you until your landlord says "quit it or you have to move!"

i tried to keep it repetitive in the video to show the different effects on the SAME SOUND. that's why it starts out pretty assured it does more than say "word zap" over and over again...i was just doing that so you could hear the differences. the speak and read is in great shape and looks pretty clean and if you keep the switches in their neutral position it operates just like an unmodified one would. enjoy!
