Avon Ruby Red Salt Shakers, Cranberry Glass Perfume Holders, 1876 Cape Cod Collection, Avon Dinnerware Collectible, Retro Kitchen, Circa 1970's

Now one of the most sought after collectibles made by Avon, the 1876 Cape Cod Collection was introduced in 1975. The last year of production was 1993 and the collection was officially discontinued in 1995. Avon had Wheaton Glass produce this dinnerware for them. Read more about the collections history below.

This is a set of two "salt shakers" which are in EXCELLENT condition! No chips or cracks to be found. The shakers are filled with 1.5 ounces of perfume. One is labeled "Charisma Cologne" the other's label has come off, but the two were sold as a pair, and the other scent should be easy enough to track down. They are both still filled with the original colognes! The glass is thick, sturdy and a gorgeous deep cranberry red color. Tops are made of plastic. Measure: 2 1/4" X 4.5"

I am happy to ship internationally! Please CONVO me for country specific shipping costs.

*******************************MORE ABOUT THIS COLLECTION*********************************

The following information is from http://www.coesmercantile.com"

As stated by Avon, this pattern was based on an early Sandwich design and inspired by the lacy delicacy of the classic Roman Rosette pattern. Not only does it recall the beauty of this quality glass, but its name commemorates both the spirit of the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial, which celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the area where Sandwich glass originated. As a result Avon chooses to call their new dinnerware, the 1876 Cape Cod Collection.

A special dense red glass formula was developed exclusively for the 1876 Cape Cod Collection. The specifications from Avon required the glass to be a dark red color upon reheating with no hint of yellow color in the glass. It was extremely hard to maintain this dark red color, since the glass needs to be reheated to an exact temperature. There could only be slight differences to the red color between the batches. Avon had a color range of what was acceptable to them.
