The Kanji symbol for "Hope"is inlayed on the lid. Kanji are the adopted Chinese characters used in Japanese writing. I think they are all very beautiful and interesting. I'm thrilled that I have found a way to use them in my woodwork! I carved the symbols in the cherry and then used coffee grounds as the main inlay substance. The finish is something to see and feel for yourself. It is smooth. I took the long road in applying it. 2 days dry time between coats. Patience is the best way.

Outside dimensions are about 10 x 6 x 3
Inside dimensions are 8 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 1 1/2

Finish is an oil / varnish blend.
