Outstanding vintage 1950s or 1960s Hawaiian floral hibiscus print sarong wiggle dress by designer Tori Richard! The print is dramatic and eye-catching in vibrant pinks and greens with hints of purple. Extremely flattering form fitting hourglass shape with a sweetheart shaped bust, defined bullet bra bust cups, ruched elastic at the back sides of bodice and an bombshell cut sarong style wiggle skirt that sweeps up the left side with fabulous draping where it’s tied into place at the left hip! As an added bonus you can wear this dress two ways – with the spaghetti straps in place or as a halter dress as the straps button in place on the backside of inner bodice!

Dress closes with a hidden back nylon zipper and is tagged “Made Expressly for Marshall Field & Company by Tori Richard of Honolulu".

Condition: MINT – it appears to have never been worn!

Size: Bust measures 33.5” around but due to elastic at back sides it can stretch to 36” around. (Measured following curve of bust cups – can fit a decent cup size). Waist measures 25” – 26” absolute max around. Hips measure 38-39” around. From top of bust (not including strap) to hem, dress measures approximately 37” in length.

About the designer (courtesy of VFG): “Tori Richard was founded in 1956 and is still a major Honolulu clothing maker. The founder, Mort Feldman, and partners Mitsue Aka and Janice Moody named the company after daughter Victoria Moody and son Richard Feldman. They began by making women’s resort clothing and in 1969 added men’s Hawaiian style shirts.

In the 1960s Tori Richards became known for their use of engineered prints – prints specifically designed to fit a garment’s shape. The clothing was very fashion forward and was often featured in leading fashion magazines. By the late 1980s the company had all but abandoned its women’s wear, focusing on men’s Hawaiian shirts. They came very close to closing, but the Feldman family was able to reestablish their position as a creator of imaginative prints. In 2000 they officially relaunched the women’s wear division.”
