Rummaging around in one of my barns which used to be a "summer kitchen," I came across this little gadget! It has a lovely bright red handle with no chips or stains. The metal has some age and very light tarnish or corrosion but would clean up with ease. The cutting mechanism runs very smoothly. To operate the device, the handle is raised as in picture 5, and a potato is placed in the rectangular compartment. The handle is lowered and...hey presto! You have french fries cut and ready! There are 25 "fry" slots so the right size potato can be cut into 25 fries at a time. The inside of the potato "compartment" is about 4 inches long and about 2.5 inches square.

The inside base has some writing on it that says:
The "Villa" Potato Chipper
Reg. No. 819276
Patent No. 490250
Australian Patent No. 134049
Made in England

A fun piece of kitchen history for display or use. Ships from my farm in Canada!
