This and the Strata Sunset scarves are an experiment for me. Most of my scarves are tied to a pvc pipe on the bias and compressed. This one was wrapped perpendicular to the scarf resulting in horizontal pleats instead of angular ones. I use the term "strata" for these because they look like geological formations to me. The colors of this scarf in particular reminds me of the Outer Banks beaches in North Carolina.

The process of arashi shibori for me involves dyeing the scarf in a ruched pattern, pressing, wrapping the scarf around a pvc pole, tying resists and compressing the scarf, redyeing and setting the pleats.

Scarf size: 14" x 72" prior to pleating.
