Doll Miniature Grandma Moses

Anna Mary Robertson Moses, better known as "Grandma Moses", was a famous American folk artist. who bagan painting scenes of country life in her seventies. Louis J. Caldor, a collector, discovered her paintings in a drugstore window in 1938. In 1939, her work was brought to the attention of collectors all over the world in an exhibit, causing her paintings to become highly sought after all over the world. She continued with an outpouring of paintings, the demand for which never ended during her lifetime. Who says little old ladies can't be cute and talented!

I created Grandma Moses in a simple red calico cotton dress with pale blue and white floral apron. Her face details are hand painted and her hair is done simple in an upswept bun perched atop her head. She has real wire spectacles, a paint brush, and even carries a tiny replica of one of her many rural paintings!

Grandma Moses stands at a tiny four and half inches tall (11.4 centimeters) and is created out of wood, wire, clay, and paint.
