Every assemblage in Studio Ditties comes from a dedication to the beauty of reuse. They're all under 12" in any dimension and around four pounds or less. They can easily be attached to the wall with a nail or screw, and I've also seen people prop them up on shelves.

Viva Flamenco measures 10"X8.5"

Each is a unique piece of art with enough visual energy to pop a spot on their own, yet they can also be combined in a wall arrangement of your own creation that pop the room.

Common materials are rusty industrial scraps, animal bones from zoology shops (the Bone Room in Berkeley is the best), old typewriters, adding machines, hardware both antique and digital, watches parts, bits of bling including faux gemstones, buttons, glass balls and filigree, and found objects I spot in the street, ( AKA "diamonds in the rough").

These small wall sculptures strike an edgy and whimsical balance between steampunk, and zen, held together by weaving copper wire.

My inspiration is alchemy that transforms industrial detritus into poetry ramped up by my veteran's eye for composition. I see a strong connection between natural and mechanical forms and wonder if this primal curiosity contributed to the origins of writing. This is why the assemblages look like calligraphy and hieroglyphics that suggest animals, musical instruments, and constellations.

In my About Section you will find a riff about the legitimacy of being whimsical in art and that you can see in it anything you darn well please.

Have fun and don't hesitate to convo me if you have further questions or comments.
