These six 7-1/4" Mexicali plates are in mint, apparently-unused condition. There are no chips, dings, scratches, cracks or decal wear. I can't find the slightest suggestion of use, even the blue bands are perfect! To be perfectly honest, I'm not at all certain as to who manufactured these plates. They are marked "Atlas China," but they were a distributor or jobber, who would merely have ordered and resold the product. Homer Laughlin used this decal, but this doesn't seem to be a Homer Laughlin shape. The shape seems reminescent of W.S. George, but I can find no reference to anyone else using this decal. The shape seems a little "late," for the decal. Did someone try to re-kindle the Mexican craze after WWII, or were they trying to sell-off old decals? Anyway, it's a great find for the Mexican decal collector, especially when you consider that most of these items have long disappeared from the market.
