Wheel thrown then cut and carved. Fired in my wood burning kiln for 35 hours. The yellow slip over dark clay has subtle variation, in some areas becoming a deep orange.
6.5" tall x 9"wide.

Forms are wheel thrown and cut or carved during the leather hard stage. Each piece is made with structural integrity, ensuring that the form can withstand open cuts and intense heat from the kiln. Slip or glaze is used to create contrast with the dark unglazed clay or as a thin layer to seal the surface and allow the clay to show through. The pots come into direct contact with flame, ash and salt inside my wood burning kiln. Various tones are brought out in the clay due to the constant oscillation of atmosphere created by the stoking cycle.
These pots are food safe and can go into the dishwasher and microwave. They are durable and can fit in well with just about any kitchen or dining room.

I take great care in packaging each piece to ensure it arrives safely to your door. Your pottery will be shipped in a clean, heavy duty shipping box. It will come wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap with an outer layer of corrugated cardboard and nestled in packing peanuts, with packing pillows and paper sometimes used as fill.
All items in my shop are ready to ship. The piece you purchase is the piece you will receive. Though measurements are approximate, they are very close to the actual size of the piece, within a quarter of an inch in any direction.
All of my pottery is meant for the enjoyment of food and drink.

My wood kiln is fired to a high temperature of approximately 2400 degrees. This ensures that all clay and glazes have reached their maturity, making the pots durable and water tight.

All of my pots are suitable for daily use. They are microwave and dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended.
Each piece in my shop was individually made by hand and fired in my wood burning kiln. Handmade, wood fired pots naturally have variations in form and surface. Most of my pots are made on the wheel and some are hand built. Though some pots are made in series and glazed in a similar way, each piece is truly one-of-a-kind. Firing with wood has many variables that come together differently for each firing. The flame moves naturally around the kiln and deposits wood ash and salt onto the pots, leaving glazes, slips and clay colors with a wide range of tones and textures. All pots in my shop were photographed using natural light to ensure the closest color accuracy.
Due to the nature of handmade pots and the variations within each wood firing, I can not replace an item with an exact replica if it was damaged in shipping. If I do not have a similar item available, it may take six months to one year for me to make and fire a replacement.
