This beautifully warm-toned yarn is a combination of deep, rich colours that remind me of mulling spices - a rich dark orange, dark olive green, muted cranberry and brownish grey tones. The roving I used for this yarn is a blend of sheep's wools from farms that were local to me when I was living in Iowa, including some Icelandic wool from my own former flock. The use of Jacquard acid dyes on the darker natural fleece resulted in a heathered colourway, accented by stretches of undyed fibre in its natural dark oatmeal/grey.

This yarn is from my "rustic" collection. Yarns that I place in that category often contain a few little pieces of hay or other vegetative matter that didn't get removed from the fleece during processing. This would be an excellent yarn for rugs, for felting, for household items like trivets or coasters, and for items that would not be directly next to the skin. Rustic yarns are priced accordingly - lovely yarns, but not as fine as the yarns in my "Fine Yarns" and "Specialty Yarns" categories.

Note - this yarn is in 2 skeins that total 175 yards. They are skeins from the same bobbin of single ply yarn, but my bobbin filled before I was finished so I made 2 skeins instead of tying a knot in the yarn.

appx. 175 yards (160 metres)
2-ply
9-12 wpi, Worsted/Aran weight*
Recommended Knitting Needle size: 6 - 9 (4 - 5.5 mm)*
Recommended Crochet Hook size: G/6-J/10*
100% hand dyed sheep's wool
Cool water wash, lay flat to dry
* Note that I measure wraps per inch (wpi) for my yarns. There are many charts comparing wpi to yarn weights and nearly all of them vary to some degree. If you are particularly concerned about a yarn weight or needle/hook size recommendation, please convo me for details.

All yarns are spun in my smoke-free home in my studio. I have a cat and a dog although the dog never goes upstairs into my studio. The cat does not take an interest in the yarns, but if you have a severe cat allergy, you should know that she does enter my studio at times.

If you would like your yarn purchase wound into a centre-pull ball prior to shipping, please let me know at time of purchase and I will be happy to wind it for you.
