Salt Glaze Crock Blue and White American Eagle Butter Crock

We bought this cobalt blue and white lidded crock from the estate of a local primitive and Early Americana collector over a year ago. It is made of heavy stoneware with the rare cobalt blue glaze. Both sides feature an embossed flying American Eagle holding a shield and arrows in his talons on a white honeycomb background.

The top and bottom of the crock and the rim of the lid are bordered with a rope and scroll pattern and there is an impressed scroll around the top of the lid.
It has the original wire handle and wooden bale.

Measures 6" X 6" and the condition is excellent-no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs.

This crock is pictured in light blue on page 116 of "Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware" by Taylor and Lowrance.
