A fine example of Victorian Miser's purse
a lovely handwork of green and yellow crochet with pyrite/marcasite beads in a classical pattern
and an eight petal lotus embroidered at the round end
some of these beads are rusty although the majority are still shinny and there are no missing beads
two light reflecting metal rings with some light rust on them but generally very good for their age
Miser's purses were widely used by Ladies and Gentlemen during the Victorian period and up to the Edwardian age, they are so called because the rings wouldn't allow easy removal of the coins as one needed to slide them across the opposite end in order to remove the coins
10" long by over just 2" at the straight end (25cm x 6cm)
Please refer to the photographs for inspection
this is an antique item and as such much of its character and value comes from
the effect of time & wear
