Who is this product for?

For anybody who has already been sewing some garments, using commercial patterns and is now interested in learning how to draft their own unique patterns. Although the pattern making instructions provided are very detailed, complete beginner sewers might find drafting these patterns – or sewing the garments – quite challenging. Understanding at least a little bit about garment construction will be extremely helpful.

When will I get the e-guide?

The e-guides are PDF files that will be available for immediate download after you’ve completed the purchase.

What is included in the purchase?

You’ll get the e-guide in two versions, metric and imperial. Except for Mad about Sleeves, there’s also a separate guide for drafting the basic pattern block and a planning sheet PDF with flat drawings of each design. Notice, that these e-guides don’t include the patterns; they include instructions for you to draft your own, made-to-measure patterns.

About this item

This is a digital multi-size basic bodice pattern block for woven fabrics. It's graded from US Size 2 to 16 (=UK Sizes 6-20, EU Sizes 34-48, IT Sizes 38-52). Notice that the sizes aren't necessarily the same as in RTW clothing. Therefore check the measurement charts in the pictures to see detailed measurements for different sizes.

There are three sets of patterns for three different heights so that you have more variety to choose from. The patterns are drafted for a B cup bust.

The sleeve has about 10% of ease at the sleeve cap which you can reduce if needed (instructions are provided).

In pattern making, each pattern starts from a basic pattern block and there are a variety of basic blocks for different types
of garments. With this basic bodice block, you’ll be able to create patterns for all kinds of fitted garments,from dresses to shirts, blouses, and tops.

You’ll also get a booklet (metric and imperial) with instructions to adapt the pattern block to your measurements. In addition, you'll learn how to modify the amount of ease so that you’ll be able to use this block with both fitted and semi-fitted garments.

The bodice comes with a straight sleeve. The pattern has no seam allowance.

There are both home printing and copy shop versions of the PDF file. The home printing version has layers so that you can view and print the size(s) you want.
