"What Kind of Ecosystems can Survive Under 200 Miles of Ice"

18" x 24" acrylic on canvas

2012 Blake Brasher

This was a bit of a crossover painting, started in the fall of 2011 and finished after hanging for a couple months on the wall in my studio. Something didn't quite feel finished about it. Finally in January 2012 I took it down, added some details, and boom: finished. Mostly the black dots on the left of the painting used to be more like random splatters and really kind of spoiled the calm blue that otherwise dominates that part of the canvas. So I filled in the middles of those splatters with concentric rings of blue and black. I also doodled a little in the right third.

"What Kind of Ecosystems can Survive Under 200 Miles of Ice" is painted on a 18" x 24" canvas that is 3/4" deep. It does not require a frame and comes equipped with a hanging wire in the back for easy installation on the wall of your choice. The edges of the canvas are unfinished and show a number of drip marks.
