'Picasso Sky' is named for the famous painter, though I suppose the float represents impressionism rather than 'cubism'. I'd better quit there or I'll be in big trouble with painting experts! The rich celestial blue of this hand blown collectible, combined with the first golden Witch Hazel blossoms of spring, transport the imagination easily to the world of painters and fine art.

Picasso Sky measures 3-3/8" diameter or 10-7/16" in circumference. The high quality antique glass is beautifully thick and heavy, showing undulating 'waves' within the body of glass. This interesting piece also shows some wild striated swirling and champagne bubbling throughout. There are a number of 'comet' shaped bubbles in the basal area too, a few which show up in the photos.

Showing normal surface wear from decades of service at sea, the float glows with rich luster and high sheen gloss. If held to the light at the right angle, beautiful inky, purple-blue light swirls may be seen in the base 1/4" to 1/2" out from the seal. WOW! Very pretty. In addition to resembling an impressionist period painting, the glass sparkles with amazing clarity. There's a certain excitement about the float which can be felt when you are able to study it in person, or hold it in the palm of the hand.

If you study photo #3, you'll notice the signed/mark which, curiously, is casually called the 'backwards 2'. And it does appear backwards! Observe two of these 2's stamped (backwards) side by each, up and to the right. Under that is a third strike which occurs right on the edge of the seal button, with a portion of the base bar on that particular '2' missing, as if it simply fell off the edge - which is commonly seen where pieces or parts of marks have melted into the ether or into the glass itself. The mark is officially called the 'Reverse' or 'Mirror Image 2' by W. Pich, a well respected Western expert. (Thank you, W. Pich!) No one seems to know why the '2' appears backwards, but the Arabic number '2' as we know it, is also a bona fide mark. So the one on this float will remain one of the many beautiful mysteries of the old sea arts.

The seal 'button' is large, thick and somewhat irregular in shape. It is fully intact and has done its job over the decades, withstanding impact blows, ferocious winds and rave waves. It shows some grazing to its surround edges in several areas, but wonderfully the marks survived. Opposite the 'eye' in center of the seal and internal to the seal, is a terrific, large, very beautiful 'pearl' or glass bubble that will reflect sunlight in a stunning manner if displayed near the sun. As well, the seal will light up, casting a beautiful celestial blue shadow. I wish the sunlight had been available to demonstrate this in the photos. Please observe the pearl in photos #1, #2, and #4 - and imagine how it will light up and inspire in the sunlight!

SHIPPING: Happy to offer Priority shipping for this float. It will be boxed with extra insulation for protection of its antiquity while in transit. The cost is $9.50. This includes your tracking number and insurance. It will be packed with absolute care. *** Please allow 1 to 3 days to ship and 2 to 3 days for the carrier. You should receive it in a week or less. If you need it quicker, tell me and I’ll ship it fast! ***

COMBINED SHIPPING: Yes - I will combine! Floats of generally similar size & weight can be combined so you save on shipping. These decisions are made at the actual time of packing, using my best judgment to keep items safe from damage in transit, protecting them maximally. Best option is to pay the shipping on each item up front. A shipping refund will be issued promptly via Paypal when your parcels are complete. My customers will confirm I am happy to do this. If this doesn’t work for you, convo for a ‘guesstimate’ on combined shipping of items.

CANADA: USPS has omitted insurance from the economy (1st Class International) shipping category. Priority International is the next best available method yet not cost effective in my opinion, unless purchasing two or three items & combining shipping. Please convo for a quote if interested. My sincere apologies!
